Ari finds himself at the end of his journey as the leader of his pride during a time when all seemed to be at the brink of disaster. He received a message from the small birds that flew into his presence at a moment when even in the midst of this tragedy Ari still held to his dream that peace would prevail.
The message the birds brought to him was a warning that the enemy was at hand and eager to fight. How could this be when all that was on Ari’s mind was his dream to unite and become stronger so as to enjoy peace among all?
Just as with Ari, the message we receive during our most challenging times may not be a comforting one and not the answer we were hoping for. It requires us to stand firm in faith that our divinely inspired dream will surely come to pass. We must remain in this faith even when everything seems to be moving quickly in the opposite direction and the pressure of the situation becomes unbearable.
The pressure was there when Joseph wanted to quietly divorce Mary but the angel’s message was to not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. The pressure was there for Mary when the angel’s message proclaimed her role in the birth of the Savior. The pressure was there once again for Joseph when the angel appeared with the warning to flee to Egypt so they may escape the danger intended for his family.
The messengers come into our lives as divine encounters which bring us through a time of deep growth in our souls. A time to gather what is the substance of our faith and to press on with the knowing that everything is working for our good.
In these very precious moments we can choose to empty out all our fears and doubts while replacing them with a steadfast faith. This will then fill our hearts with the peace that passes all understanding. We will soon experience as our dear Ari did, that the dream we desired so strongly will prevail in the end.
In the midst of such turmoil and times when we don’t understand completely what is happening in our lives we must remember that somewhere in the heavens the messengers are also heralding and declaring another type of message, the same message they delivered to the shepherds while hovering over them and filling the sky with their glory not too far from where Joseph and Mary were.
There is peace to be found in the midst of a challenging situation and the messengers are always there declaring it… “Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.” ~ Luke 2:14
Even when the messengers arrive with news of what we may not have hoped for, it will only propel us to the highest good as we hold on to our faith, and to our dream, and trust the divine encounter of love in whatever form it may come.
It seems angels are most concerned with calling on us to examine our souls, to strengthen our faith, to lay aside our fears, to fulfill our dreams, to follow our divine destiny, and to make an impact on the world around us.
“For He will give His angels charge over you, to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11
“An angel can illuminate the thought and mind of man by strengthening the power of vision.” ~ St. Thomas Aquinas
